In honor of having the day off tomorrow to the celebrate the holiday, and in honor of the holiday in general, I’m celebrating tonight.
I bought a bottle of wine. I took a long bath and put on a pretty, sassy nightgown. I just made a delicious dinner with lots of fresh vegetables. Now, I’m just sipping my wine, reading Franny and Zooey and contemplating watching the graduate.
Oh, it is a good night.

things i’ve done in the last week:

- celebrate having the day off by going out

- drank wine at home

- watched the graduate (throught about the Leah-Elaine similarity)

- cooked veggie-heavy dinner

- missed my friends like crazy!

it’s been a long time since i’ve been THIS pumped about a weekend. Not only is it a long weekend, but Kate is flying in to go out/be crazy with me. I’m celebrating the 4th in this nation’s capitol, brunching, [hopefully] clubbing, exploring, dining, and sightseeing in NYC (MoMA here i come!)

not to mention, work’s been a complete breeze this last week and i’ve been getting enough sleep. let the fun begin!

I’ve been listening to this song a lot lately. I’ve been putting it on playlists, singing it in the shower, etc.

It is that part, the very end, that always gets stuck in my head. It helped sum up a lot of things I was feeling when I was leaving Tucson and Phoenix.

So, I’m sitting at work listening to Seu Jorge and what am I thinking about? Tumblr cliques. Yes, the elite circles of Tumblr users who reblog one another and mention each other. Maybe they hang out in real life, maybe they don’t or maybe they are bonded by mutual coolness.
This got me thinking whether or not I’d be in a clique. Obviously, I’m still relatively new to this Tumblr thing. Of course I have an inner circle of people I pay special attention to (Alla, Alex, Ryan, Adrienne, Lara, Connor, Jennica) but I know all of them in real life. What about those people who I don’t know in real life? You know, like David Cho? I freaking love his blog! Does he think I’m as cool as I think he is? Probably not.
Thus, I feel like one of those awkward girls in high school. You know, that girl with the not so perfect hair and the not so perfect outfit who listened to “weird” music who was three steps behind the really popular girls with long blonde hair and long tan legs and Abercrombie wardrobes. I’m that girl, following around SoupSoup, Sara Zucker, lovepuppy, nowwhat, and Paul.
Weird. Thanks Tumblr, for bringing out all of my high school insecurities that I thought I left behind with my old studded belt, over plucked eyebrows, black eyeliner and devotion to really crappy local bands made up of guys who went to my school and couldn’t play their instruments.

Jay-Z - ‘Wonderwall’ & ‘99 Problems (w/’Back in Black’ instrumental)’ from Glastonbury
In light of all of the ridiculous things said by Noel Gallagher about Hovie’s haedlining of the Glastonbury Pyramid stage, Jay started his set by doing a little bit of one of Oasis’ biggest songs (how weird is it to see him with a guitar strapped on btw?) and then goes into his own hit in ‘99 Problems’.
It’s fun to see Jay-Z trying to work to win a crowd over, rather than just having them in the palm of his hand from the get-go.
As of now these two songs are the only ones available on video since BBC streams are reserved only for those in the UK, but I’m sure eventually the whole thing will be put online.
HELL. YES.
